Babcock Demon Incubator

The Babcock Demon Incubator’s mission is to increase the number and quality of growth-oriented early stage ventures in the Triad, support the growth of the Piedmont Triad Research Park, support the commercialization of university developed intellectual property, and deliver experiential educational opportunities to students.

The incubator is capable of supporting a wide range of companies. Capabilities exist to support new ventures in bioscience, nanotechnology, medical devices, healthcare information, wireless technology, internet applications, software, and marketing.

The incubator is also uniquely positioned to support companies developing regenerative medicine and cellular therapy technologies through its close working relationship with the Wake Forest Institute of Regenerative Medicine

The incubator provides both residential and non-residential client models depending on client needs. All clients receive business consulting and have access to an extensive services network designed to provide difficult-to-obtain resources to help young companies succeed. For ventures needing office or laboratory space, the BDI can provide a range of facilities depending on needs. The office facilities include office space, broadband internet, phone service, and conference facilities. Clients are admitted on a rolling basis throughout the year with the expectation of using the incubator for approximately 12 months before graduating to more permanent facilities.

The resources provided have assisted numerous companies in the Triad to be successful. Clients of the incubator have been consistent award winners of the Piedmont Triad Entrepreneurial Network's annual growth accelerator competition.
