Wake Forest University Schools of Business Beats More Than 2,300 Schools for Coveted Spot. From more than 2,300 schools surveyed by Entrepreneur magazine and The Princeton Review, the Wake Forest University Schools of Business were recognized as having one of the top 50 entrepreneurship programs in the country. Wake Forest ranked 24th in the graduate category of the survey.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Resources for emerging biotechnology companies have taken a major leap forward at the Wake Forest University Babcock Demon Incubator (BDI) Wet Lab in the Piedmont Triad Research Park, thanks to a Regional Development Grant recently awarded by the NC Biotechnology Center. The matching grant allows the BDI Wet Lab to substantially expand its low-cost, multi-user wet lab space and support six new biotechnology and bioscience companies annually.

Chambers Grants

The Chambers Family Fund for Entrepreneurship is designed to provide a source of funding for projects and courses that encourage undergraduate and graduate students in entrepreneurial activities using the Internet or electronic commerce. Created in August of 2002 through a gift of endowment of $1,000,000 from the family of John Chambers, CEO of Cisco Systems, this award is given twice a year by a committee appointed by the Provost. The first award was presented in the Spring Semester of 2004. Typical awards range from $1,500 to $10,000. Deadline for spring applications -- March 1, 2009 5 p.m.

Winners of Wake Forest Escalator Competition Announced

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- A Web site for parents looking for professional but flexible work options and an online venture that allows merchants to offer direct discounts to Wake Forest University students have been chosen to represent the University in the 10th annual Wake Forest University Elevator Competition.Five teams of entrepreneurs presented their ideas to judges Feb. 14 during the school’s Escalator Competition, a preliminary contest for Wake Forest University students to earn the right to compete in the international Elevator competition event, scheduled for March 27-28.

Babcock's Ram Baliga and Tom Clarkson to speak at Wake Forest University Law School's regenerative medicine symposium

Ram Baliga, a management professor at the Wake Forest University Babcock Graduate School of Management, and Tom Clarkson, director of Babcock's business incubator, are among the speakers for the Wake Forest University School of Law Intellectual Property Law Journal’s symposium on regenerative medicine. The Feb. 6 symposium, “Regenerative Medicine – The Crossroads: Examining the Research from Every Angle,” will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Worrell Professional Center, Room 1312. It is free and open to the public. The symposium will feature experts covering a variety of areas relating to regenerative medicine, including the ethical debate, patentability issues and their implications and the commercialization of the research.
